Releases 18.04 LTS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open side navigation Packages o linux-azure-5.4 - Linux kernel for Microsoft Azure cloud systems Details Qualys discovered that several vulnerabilities existed in the AppArmor Linux kernel Security Module (LSM). An unprivileged local attacker could use these issues to load, replace, and remove arbitrary AppArmor profiles causing denial of service, exposure of sensitive information (kernel memory), local privilege escalation, or possibly escape a container. (LP: #2143853, CVE-2026-23268 , CVE-2026-23269 , CVE-2026-23403 , CVE-2026-23404 , CVE-2026-23405 , CVE-2026-23406 , CVE-2026-23407 , CVE-2026-23408 , CVE-2026-23409 , CVE-2026-23410 , CVE-2026-23411 ) Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel. An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system. This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems: o ARM64 architecture; o x86 architecture; o Cryptographic API; o GPIO subsystem; o GPU drivers; o I2C subsystem; o BTRFS file system; o XFRM subsystem; o IPv4 networking; o IPv6 networking; o MAC80211 subsystem; o Network traffic control; o SMC sockets --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update instructions ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic, linux-generic-lts-RELEASE, linux-virtual, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well. The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: Ubuntu Package Version Release linux-image-5.4.0-1161-azure - 5.4.0-1161.167~18.04.1 Ubuntu Pro Fix available with Ubuntu Pro . 18.04 LTS linux-image-azure - 5.4.0.1161.167~18.04.1 Ubuntu Pro Fix available bionic with Ubuntu Pro . linux-image-azure-5.4 - 5.4.0.1161.167~18.04.1 Ubuntu Pro Fix available with Ubuntu Pro . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- References o https://launchpad.net/bugs/2143853 o CVE-2026-23411 o CVE-2026-23410 o CVE-2026-23409 o CVE-2026-23407 o CVE-2026-23406 o CVE-2026-23405 o CVE-2026-23404 o CVE-2026-23403 o CVE-2026-23269 o CVE-2026-23268 o CVE-2026-23074 o CVE-2026-23060 o CVE-2025-40215 o CVE-2025-37849 o CVE-2025-21780 o CVE-2024-56640 o CVE-2024-49927 o CVE-2024-46816 o CVE-2022-49072 o CVE-2022-49046 o CVE-2022-48875 o CVE-2021-47599 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Related notices o USN-8203-1 o USN-8200-1 o USN-8200-2 o USN-8188-1 o USN-8165-1 o USN-8164-1 o USN-8163-1 o USN-8163-2 o USN-8162-1 o USN-8159-1 o USN-8159-2 o USN-8159-3 o USN-8152-1 o USN-8149-1 o USN-8149-2 o USN-8149-3 o USN-8148-1 o USN-8148-2 o USN-8148-3 o USN-8148-4 o USN-8148-5 o USN-8148-6 o USN-8148-7 o USN-8145-1 o USN-8145-2 o USN-8145-3 o USN-8145-4 o USN-8145-5 o USN-8143-1 o USN-8143-2 o USN-8142-1 o USN-8141-1 o USN-8126-1 o USN-8112-1 o USN-8112-2 o USN-8112-3 o USN-8112-4 o USN-8112-5 o USN-8107-1 o USN-8098-10 o USN-8098-9 o USN-8098-1 o USN-8098-2 o USN-8098-3 o USN-8098-4 o USN-8098-5 o USN-8098-6 o USN-8098-7 o USN-8098-8 o USN-8074-1 o USN-8074-2 o USN-8070-1 o USN-8070-2 o USN-8070-3 o USN-8060-1 o USN-8060-2 o USN-8060-3 o USN-8060-4 o USN-8060-5 o USN-8060-6 o USN-8060-7 o USN-8052-1 o USN-8052-2 o USN-8034-1 o USN-8034-2 o USN-8033-1 o USN-8033-2 o USN-8033-3 o USN-8033-4 o USN-8033-5 o USN-8033-6 o USN-8033-7 o USN-8033-8 o USN-8031-1 o USN-8031-2 o USN-8031-3 o USN-8028-1 o USN-8028-2 o USN-8028-3 o USN-8028-4 o USN-8028-5 o USN-8028-6 o USN-8028-7 o USN-8028-8 o USN-7737-1 o USN-7719-1 o USN-7712-1 o USN-7712-2 o USN-7711-1 o USN-7703-1 o USN-7703-2 o USN-7703-3 o USN-7703-4 o USN-7686-1 o USN-7655-1 o USN-7654-1 o USN-7654-2 o USN-7654-3 o USN-7654-4 o USN-7654-5 o USN-7594-1 o USN-7594-2 o USN-7594-3 o USN-7524-1 o USN-7523-1 o USN-7521-1 o USN-7521-2 o USN-7521-3 o USN-7468-1 o USN-7459-1 o USN-7459-2 o USN-7458-1 o USN-7453-1 o USN-7452-1 o USN-7451-1 o USN-7450-1 o USN-7449-1 o USN-7449-2 o USN-7421-1 o USN-7407-1 o USN-7403-1 o USN-7390-1 o USN-7389-1 o USN-7388-1 o USN-7387-1 o USN-7387-3 o USN-7387-2 o USN-7386-1 o USN-7385-1 o USN-7384-1 o USN-7384-2 o USN-7382-1 o USN-7381-1 o USN-7380-1 o USN-7379-1 o USN-7379-2 o USN-7311-1 o USN-7310-1 o USN-7304-1 o USN-7303-1 o USN-7303-2 o USN-7303-3 o USN-7301-1 o USN-7277-1 o USN-7276-1 o USN-7196-1 o USN-7194-1 o USN-7186-1 o USN-7186-2 o USN-7166-1 o USN-7166-2 o USN-7166-3 o USN-7166-4 o USN-7156-1 o USN-7155-1 o USN-7154-1 o USN-7154-2 o LSN-0119-1 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - --------------------------END INCLUDED TEXT---------------------- You have received this e-mail bulletin as a result of your organisation's registration with AUSCERT.
