Releases 24.04 LTS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open side navigation Packages o linux-oem-6.17 - Linux kernel for OEM systems Details It was discovered that some AMD Zen 5 processors supporting RDSEED instruction did not properly handle entropy, potentially resulting in the consumption of insufficiently random values. A local attacker could possibly use this issue to influence the values returned by the RDSEED instruction causing loss of confidentiality and integrity. ( CVE-2025-62626 ) Qualys discovered that several vulnerabilities existed in the AppArmor Linux kernel Security Module (LSM). An unprivileged local attacker could use these issues to load, replace, and remove arbitrary AppArmor profiles causing denial of service, exposure of sensitive information (kernel memory), local privilege escalation, or possibly escape a container. (LP: #2143853, CVE-2026-23268 , CVE-2026-23269 , CVE-2026-23403 , CVE-2026-23404 , CVE-2026-23405 , CVE-2026-23406 , CVE-2026-23407 , CVE-2026-23408 , CVE-2026-23409 , CVE-2026-23410 , CVE-2026-23411 ) Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel. An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system. This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems: o ARM64 architecture; o S390 architecture; o x86 architecture; o Block layer subsystem; o Cryptographic API; o Compute Acceleration Framework; o ATM drivers; o Network block device driver; o Bluetooth drivers; o Data acquisition framework and drivers; o Hardware crypto device drivers; o Device frequency scaling framework; o Intel Stratix 10 firmware drivers; o GPIO subsystem; o GPU drivers; o Microsoft Hyper-V drivers; o CoreSight HW tracing drivers; o IIO subsystem; o InfiniBand drivers; o Input Device core drivers; o Input Device (Tablet) drivers; o IOMMU subsystem; o IRQ chip drivers; o Macintosh device drivers; o Multiple devices driver; o MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) drivers; o MTD block device drivers; o Network drivers; o Mellanox network drivers; o Texas Instruments network drivers; o Ethernet team driver; o MediaTek network drivers; o NVME drivers; o Pin controllers subsystem; o x86 platform drivers; o Voltage and Current Regulator drivers; o Real Time Clock drivers; o S/390 drivers; o SCSI subsystem; o Texas Instruments SoC drivers; o SPI subsystem; o Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) driver; o Realtek RTL8723BS SDIO drivers; o TCM subsystem; o UFS subsystem; o DesignWare USB3 driver; o USB Gadget drivers; o Renesas USBHS Controller drivers; o USB Mass Storage drivers; o USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface driver; o Backlight driver; o Framebuffer layer; o AFS file system; o BFS file system; o BTRFS file system; o EROFS file system; o Ext4 file system; o FAT file system; o GFS2 file system; o Journaling layer for block devices (JBD2); o File systems infrastructure; o Network file system (NFS) client; o NTFS3 file system; o OCFS2 file system; o SMB network file system; o XFS file system; o BPF subsystem; o MediaTek SoC drivers; o Bluetooth subsystem; o io_uring subsystem; o Locking primitives; o Scheduler infrastructure; o Timer subsystem; o Tracing infrastructure; o Kexec HandOver (KHO); o Memory management; o Ceph Core library; o Networking core; o Devlink API; o IPv4 networking; o IPv6 networking; o Multipath TCP; o Netfilter; o Open vSwitch; o Network traffic control; o VMware vSockets driver; o eXpress Data Path; o Integrity Measurement Architecture(IMA) framework; o Simplified Mandatory Access Control Kernel framework; o FireWire sound drivers; o HD-audio driver; o Turtle Beach Wavefront ALSA driver; o SoundWire (SDCA) ASoC drivers --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update instructions ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic, linux-generic-lts-RELEASE, linux-virtual, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well. The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: Ubuntu Release Package Version linux-image-6.17.0-1017-oem - 6.17.0-1017.17 linux-image-oem-24.04 - 6.17.0-1017.17 linux-image-oem-24.04a - 6.17.0-1017.17 24.04 LTS noble linux-image-oem-24.04b - 6.17.0-1017.17 linux-image-oem-24.04c - 6.17.0-1017.17 linux-image-oem-24.04d - 6.17.0-1017.17 linux-image-oem-6.17 - 6.17.0-1017.17 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- References o https://launchpad.net/bugs/2143853 o CVE-2026-23411 o CVE-2026-23410 o CVE-2026-23409 o CVE-2026-23408 o CVE-2026-23407 o CVE-2026-23406 o CVE-2026-23405 o CVE-2026-23404 o CVE-2026-23403 o CVE-2026-23269 o CVE-2026-23268 o CVE-2026-23111 o CVE-2026-23074 o CVE-2026-23060 o CVE-2025-71128 o CVE-2025-68766 o CVE-2025-68765 o CVE-2025-68764 o CVE-2025-68763 o CVE-2025-68762 o CVE-2025-68760 o CVE-2025-68759 o CVE-2025-68758 o CVE-2025-68757 o CVE-2025-68756 o CVE-2025-68755 o CVE-2025-68754 o CVE-2025-68753 o CVE-2025-68752 o CVE-2025-68751 o CVE-2025-68749 o CVE-2025-68748 o CVE-2025-68747 o CVE-2025-68746 o CVE-2025-68744 o CVE-2025-68743 o CVE-2025-68742 o CVE-2025-68741 o CVE-2025-68740 o CVE-2025-68739 o CVE-2025-68738 o CVE-2025-68735 o CVE-2025-68733 o CVE-2025-68732 o CVE-2025-68730 o CVE-2025-68729 o CVE-2025-68728 o CVE-2025-68727 o CVE-2025-68726 o CVE-2025-68724 o CVE-2025-68380 o CVE-2025-68379 o CVE-2025-68378 o CVE-2025-68376 o CVE-2025-68375 o CVE-2025-68374 o CVE-2025-68373 o CVE-2025-68372 o CVE-2025-68371 o CVE-2025-68370 o CVE-2025-68369 o CVE-2025-68367 o CVE-2025-68366 o CVE-2025-68364 o CVE-2025-68363 o CVE-2025-68362 o CVE-2025-68361 o CVE-2025-68360 o CVE-2025-68359 o CVE-2025-68358 o CVE-2025-68356 o CVE-2025-68354 o CVE-2025-68352 o CVE-2025-68349 o CVE-2025-68348 o CVE-2025-68347 o CVE-2025-68346 o CVE-2025-68345 o CVE-2025-68344 o CVE-2025-68343 o CVE-2025-68342 o CVE-2025-68341 o CVE-2025-68340 o CVE-2025-68339 o CVE-2025-68338 o CVE-2025-68337 o CVE-2025-68336 o CVE-2025-68335 o CVE-2025-68334 o CVE-2025-68333 o CVE-2025-68332 o CVE-2025-68331 o CVE-2025-68330 o CVE-2025-68329 o CVE-2025-68328 o CVE-2025-68327 o CVE-2025-68326 o CVE-2025-68325 o CVE-2025-68324 o CVE-2025-68323 o CVE-2025-68308 o CVE-2025-68307 o CVE-2025-68306 o CVE-2025-68305 o CVE-2025-68304 o CVE-2025-68303 o CVE-2025-68302 o CVE-2025-68301 o CVE-2025-68300 o CVE-2025-68299 o CVE-2025-68298 o CVE-2025-68297 o CVE-2025-68296 o CVE-2025-68295 o CVE-2025-68294 o CVE-2025-68293 o CVE-2025-68292 o CVE-2025-68290 o CVE-2025-68289 o CVE-2025-68288 o CVE-2025-68287 o CVE-2025-68286 o CVE-2025-68285 o CVE-2025-68284 o CVE-2025-68283 o CVE-2025-68282 o CVE-2025-68281 o CVE-2025-68266 o CVE-2025-68265 o CVE-2025-68264 o CVE-2025-68263 o CVE-2025-68262 o CVE-2025-68261 o CVE-2025-68259 o CVE-2025-68258 o CVE-2025-68257 o CVE-2025-68256 o CVE-2025-68255 o CVE-2025-68254 o CVE-2025-68238 o CVE-2025-68237 o CVE-2025-68236 o CVE-2025-68235 o CVE-2025-68234 o CVE-2025-68233 o CVE-2025-68232 o CVE-2025-68231 o CVE-2025-68230 o CVE-2025-68229 o CVE-2025-68228 o CVE-2025-68227 o CVE-2025-68225 o CVE-2025-68223 o CVE-2025-68222 o CVE-2025-68221 o CVE-2025-68220 o CVE-2025-68219 o CVE-2025-68218 o CVE-2025-68217 o CVE-2025-68215 o CVE-2025-68214 o CVE-2025-68213 o CVE-2025-68212 o CVE-2025-62626 o CVE-2025-40345 o CVE-2025-40290 o CVE-2025-40266 o CVE-2025-40265 o CVE-2025-40264 o CVE-2025-40263 o CVE-2025-40262 o CVE-2025-40261 o CVE-2025-40260 o CVE-2025-40259 o CVE-2025-40258 o CVE-2025-40257 o CVE-2025-40255 o CVE-2025-40254 o CVE-2025-40253 o CVE-2025-40252 o CVE-2025-40251 o CVE-2025-40250 o CVE-2025-40249 o CVE-2025-40248 o CVE-2025-40247 o CVE-2025-40246 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Related notices o USN-8149-1 o USN-8148-1 o USN-8148-2 o USN-8148-3 o USN-8148-4 o USN-8145-1 o USN-8145-2 o USN-8145-3 o USN-8143-1 o USN-8143-2 o USN-8142-1 o USN-8141-1 o USN-8126-1 o USN-8125-1 o USN-8116-1 o USN-8100-1 o USN-8096-1 o USN-8096-2 o USN-8096-3 o USN-8096-4 o USN-8096-5 o USN-8095-1 o USN-8095-2 o USN-8095-3 o USN-8095-4 o USN-8095-5 o USN-8094-1 o USN-8094-2 o USN-8094-3 o USN-8094-4 o USN-8094-5 o USN-8016-1 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - --------------------------END INCLUDED TEXT---------------------- You have received this e-mail bulletin as a result of your organisation's registration with AUSCERT.
