Advisory PublishedCVSS 9.6/10
Vulnetix · Advisory published August 4, 2026
This package is a credential and cryptocurrency wallet stealer that executes on install via postinstall.js. The code explicitly collects SSH private keys, .npmrc tokens, .gitconfig identity, browser cookies/login data (Chrome, Firefox), a comprehensive list of sensitive environment variables (AWS keys, MNEMONIC, SEED_PHRASE, ETHEREUM_PRIVATE_KEY, etc.), and wallet directory presence (.metamask, .exodus, .bitcoin, .solana, etc.), then exfiltrates the full profile via two redundant channels: a Telegram bot (token 7231970337:AAExyV3dvbNs6xkMJB7S2hArUash9owd-bw, chat_id 7231970337) and an HTTP POST to a Serveo tunnel C2 at 40f955f39128bd79-178-249-214-24.serveousercontent.com/collect. The package is published under the throwaway namespace @zzzgenesis00 with no metadata, spoofing the legitimate cryptocoinjs/hdkey library. The attacker model is a supply-chain infostealer targeting crypto developers, consistent with the chai-max stealer family.
