Advisory PublishedCVSS 9.6/10
This campaign consists of similar loader packages, which provide executing code from a given URL. While they do not contain the malicious payload and the usage remains unknown, they are clearly a coordinated campaign to place multiple deceptive ways to load malicious code.
Category: MALICIOUS - The campaign has clearly malicious intent, like infostealers.
Campaign: 2026-10-voice-synthesis-profiles
Reasons (based on the campaign):
- Downloads and executes a remote malicious script.
- other
Judge assessment: The package implements a remote code execution loader by design: on import, it fetches arbitrary Python source from a caller-supplied URL and executes it in-process via `exec(compile(src, ...))`. The example URL hardcoded in the docstring points to an attacker-controlled endpoint. The package description ('standard-library loader for remote voice-synthesis profiles') is a social-engineering pretext to legitimize the pattern. The library writes the fetched payload to disk under a temp cache directory before executing it, providing persistence. This is a classic supply-chain loader: the package itself carries no payload, but any consumer who passes a URL (or sets TESSIVATTS_PROFILE) will have arbitrary code executed in their process. The OSV advisory identifies this as part of a coordinated campaign of similar loader packages, which is consistent with the code structure observed here.
