Advisory PublishedCVSS 9.6/10
This campaign consists of similar loader packages, which provide executing code from a given URL. While they do not contain the malicious payload and the usage remains unknown, they are clearly a coordinated campaign to place multiple deceptive ways to load malicious code.
Category: MALICIOUS - The campaign has clearly malicious intent, like infostealers.
Campaign: 2026-10-voice-synthesis-profiles
Reasons (based on the campaign):
- Downloads and executes a remote malicious script.
- other
Judge assessment: The package implements a remote code loader: on import, `orchestril/__init__.py` fetches an arbitrary URL via `urllib.request.urlopen`, compiles the response with `compile(..., 'exec')`, and executes it in-process via `exec()`. The docstring even includes an example URL as a loader target. This is a classic stage-1 dropper pattern — the package itself carries no payload but provides a ready-made mechanism to fetch and execute arbitrary Python code from an attacker-controlled server at import or call time. The metadata profile (single version, no repository, brand-new account, no author) is consistent with a throwaway campaign package. The OSV advisory attributes this to a coordinated campaign of similar loader packages, which is consistent with what the code actually does.
