Advisory PublishedCVSS 9.6/10
This campaign consists of similar loader packages, which provide executing code from a given URL. While they do not contain the malicious payload and the usage remains unknown, they are clearly a coordinated campaign to place multiple deceptive ways to load malicious code.
Category: MALICIOUS - The campaign has clearly malicious intent, like infostealers.
Campaign: 2026-10-voice-synthesis-profiles
Reasons (based on the campaign):
- other
- Downloads and executes a remote malicious script.
Judge assessment: The package implements a remote code loader pattern: on import, `spec()` fetches arbitrary Python source from a caller-supplied URL (or the `PHONEMEPROBE_URL` environment variable), writes it to a temp directory, and executes it via `exec(compile(...))` in a freshly created module namespace. This is a textbook staged-payload loader — the package itself carries no payload, but any consumer is one `run(url=...)` call away from executing attacker-controlled code. The documented example URL (`https://example/internal/spec.py`) is a placeholder, but the architecture is designed for a real attacker-controlled endpoint to be substituted. The package has no description, no repository, and no prior version history, consistent with a burner package in a coordinated campaign. The OSV advisory's characterization of this as part of a multi-package loader campaign aligns with the code structure observed here.
