Advisory PublishedCVSS 9.6/10
Vulnetix · Advisory published October 22, 2026
This campaign consists of similar loader packages, which provide executing code from a given URL. While they do not contain the malicious payload and the usage remains unknown, they are clearly a coordinated campaign to place multiple deceptive ways to load malicious code. Category: MALICIOUS - The campaign has clearly malicious intent, like infostealers. Campaign: 2026-10-voice-synthesis-profiles Reasons (based on the campaign): - other - Downloads and executes a remote malicious script. Judge assessment: The package implements a remote code loader pattern: `obtain()` fetches arbitrary Python source from a caller-supplied URL (or `PHONEMEFORGE_URL` env var), writes it to a temp directory, and executes it in-process via `exec(compile(...))`. This is a textbook staged-payload delivery mechanism — the package itself is clean, but it provides a ready-made loader that will execute whatever Python code an attacker serves at the supplied URL. The IOC `https://example/internal/workflow.py` is a placeholder in the docstring example, but the actual URL is fully caller-controlled, meaning any downstream user or attacker-controlled dependency can point it at a live malicious endpoint. The package has zero metadata (no description, no repository, no homepage), consistent with a throwaway burner package in a coordinated campaign. The OSV advisory corroborates the campaign classification as a loader package, and the code itself is unambiguous about its purpose: download and execute remote Python at install/import time.
