This High severity DoS (Denial of Service) vulnerability was introduced in versions 9.15.2, 9.16.1, 9.17.2, 10.0.1, 10.1.1, 10.2.1, 10.3.0, 10.4.1, 10.5.0, 10.6.0, 10.7.1, 11.0.0, 11.1.0, 11.2.0, and 11.3.0 of Jira Software Data Center. This DoS (Denial of Service) vulnerability, with a CVSS Score of 7.5 and a CVSS Vector of CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H allows an unauthenticated attacker to cause a resource to be unavailable for its intended users by temporarily or indefinitely disrupting services of a host connected to a network which has no impact to confidentiality, no impact to integrity, high impact to availability, and requires no user interaction. The National Vulnerability Database provides the following description for this vulnerability: ajv (Another JSON Schema Validator) before 8.18.0 is vulnerable to Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) when the $data option is enabled. The pattern keyword accepts runtime data via JSON Pointer syntax ($data reference), which is passed directly to the JavaScript RegExp() constructor without validation. An attacker can inject a malicious regex pattern (e.g., "^(a|a)*$") combined with crafted input to cause catastrophic backtracking. A 31-character payload causes approximately 44 seconds of CPU blocking, with each additional character doubling execution time. This enables complete denial of service with a single HTTP request against any API using ajv with $data: true for dynamic schema validation. This issue is also fixed in version 6.14.0.
