This High severity org.apache.commons:commons-compress Dependency vulnerability was introduced in versions 7.19.23, 8.5.10, 8.9.2 of Confluence Data Center and Server. This org.apache.commons:commons-compress Dependency vulnerability, with a CVSS Score of 7.5 and a CVSS Vector of CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H allows an unauthenticated attacker to expose assets in your environment susceptible to exploitation which has no impact to confidentiality, no impact to integrity, high impact to availability, and requires no user interaction. Atlassian recommends that Confluence Data Center and Server customers upgrade to latest version, if you are unable to do so, upgrade your instance to one of the specified supported fixed versions: The vulnerable version of this library exists in Confluence but is not being utilised. Because of this our products are not inherently vulnerable and at risk. Upgrading will move to a newer version of the library - but any future upgrades will do the same. \n h2. The National Vulnerability Database provides the following description for this vulnerability: The file name encoding algorithm used internally in Apache Commons Compress 1.15 to 1.18 can get into an infinite loop when faced with specially crafted inputs. This can lead to a denial of service attack if an attacker can choose the file names inside of an archive created by Compress.
